Dehradun

Dehradun UttarakhandDehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand state is surely an enlightening city which is located at an altitude of about 2,200 ft. This city is situated between 2 most religious and popular Indian rivers Ganga and Yamuna. The reference of this city goes back to 250 BC. You will find the inscriptions of great grand Ashoka emperor on the external part of Dehradun. There are over 14 edicts that have been craved upon a rock. Moreover, this site evidences that Raja Shilvarma sacrificed 3 horses here. He belonged to the Vrisheri dynasty. Another true attraction is the sculpture of a bird along with a fire altar in the center. Great writings have been scripted on this sculpture which is made up of large bricks.

As the morning sun rises at a height of eleven thousand feet, the landscape emerges, changing colour with each passing moment. Grey first, it slowly transforms into orange from pale yellow. It's time to wake up and so the bird king of the high Himalayas, Monaal, takes a swift flight from the rocky outcrop into the valley.

While doing so, it greets its friends below with a continuos shrill call. and friends it has plenty - Musk deer, muntjac, gorals. Cautiously, they tread over the virgin snow, leaving behind an endless trail of footprints. Occasionally, they stop, lift their heads to catch a sign of the predator- Man or tiger. and once assured they are safe, they carry on.

Ranikhet Uttaranchal Ranikhet

Ranikhet is situated in the northern part of the state of Uttaranchal, located at a height of 1824 metres from sea level. The environment of this small hill station is attractive as well as peaceful. The place is full of ancient temples which attract devotees from all over the nation to do silent meditation. The place got its name by Rani Padmabati, the queen of King Sukherdev. She discovered this exotic land and decided to stay here.Ranikhet offers an excellent view of the Himalayan peak of Nandadevi. The Jhuladevi Temple is close to this town. Ranikhet can be visited through out the year but the winter is more recommended due to its snowfall.

It is a captivating place that has retained its virginity and pristine charm. Away from the bustle of city life, it is arguably the best site to enjoy the panoramic vistas of the Himalayan ranges.
